Salida

The artist leaves her studio door open.

Dedicated town story

Paulette Brodeur keeps the door open while she works. Thordis Niela Simonsen remembers being greeted before she could say hello. Diesel Post first came for the river. These small acts give Salida’s creative district its human center: people make art here, and make room for someone else to enter.

An invitation in the doorway

Brodeur’s account places the exchange between artist and passerby inside an ordinary working day.

A reason to arrive, a reason to stay

Post recalls coming for the river; Simonsen remembers the greetings. Tina Gramann adds the independent businesses that give downtown its character.
